There is a captivating story to the Cambodia gambling halls that sit just across the dividing line from nearby Thailand, in which gambling den wagering is not legal. Eight casinos are anchored in a relatively tiny location in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This group of Cambodia casinos is in a prime area, a 3 to four hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the two largest wagering locations in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a thriving business with Thai blue-collar workers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The amazing capital accrued from the casinos ranges from 7.5 million dollars to over 12.5 million dollars, and there are a couple of limitations constraints for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is presumed to be mainly Thai; still, financing sources are ambiguous. The borders are officially open from 09:00 to 17:00, and even though visas are supposedly required to pass, there are means around this, as is correct of most border crossings.

The 1st Cambodia casinos opened in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving just one gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a stationary barge casino, features 150 slots and 60 table games. The Naga gambling den is open 24 hours with forty two tables of mini-baccarat, 4 tables of twenty-one, 10 of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The initial gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in 1999 and the Golden Crown soon opened. There are one hundred and fifty slot machine games and 5 tables at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machines and 68 tables at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains 300 slot machine games and seventy table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slots and ninety six gaming tables, including 87 baccarat chemin de fer (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five one armed bandits and sixty six of the normal gaming tables, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the 8 gambling dens in Poipet, again in a motel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machines and 97 table games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an international vacation and hotel building that highlights numerous luxuries in addition to the gambling hall, which provides 10,000 square feet of 130 slot machine games and eighty eight tables.
