There are many casinos located in the commonwealth, the biggest number being on moored riverboats. The biggest of the Iowa gambling halls is the Meswaki Bingo Casino Hotel, an Amerindian casino in Tama, with 127,669 sq.ft. of gambling area, 1,500 slots, 30 table games, like 21, craps, roulette, and baccarat, and many types of poker; as well as three dining rooms, monthly productions, and betting classes. An additional big American Indian casino is the Winna Vegas, with 45,000 sq.ft., 668 one armed bandits, and 14 table games. Also, the Ameristar Casino Hotel in Council Bluffs is available 24 hours, with 38,500 sq.ft., 1,589 slots, 36 table games, and four eatery’s. There are several other dominant Iowa casinos, which includes Harrah’s Council Bluffs, with 28,250 sq.ft., 1,212 slot machines, and 39 table games.

A smaller Iowa gambling hall is the Diamond Jo, a river based casino in Dubuque, with 17,813 sq.ft., 776 slot machines, and 19 table games. The Catfish Bend river boat, in Fort Madison, with 13,000 sq.ft., 535 slot machines, and 14 table games. An additional Iowa paddle wheel boat casino, The Isle of Capri, is open 24 hours, with 24,939 square feet, 1,100 one armed bandits, and 24 table games. The Mississippi Belle II, a 10,577 square foot river boat casino in Clinton, has 506 slot machines, 14 table games, live shows, and Thursday 21 tournaments.

Iowa casinos provide a fantastic amount of tax revenue to the government of Iowa, which has allowed the budgeting of many state wide projects. Tourism has gotten bigger at an accelerated rate along with the requirement for services and a gain in working people.
