There is a fascinating background to the Cambodia casinos that sit just across the dividing line from next door Thailand, in which gambling den wagering is illegal. Eight gambling dens are anchored in a relatively small area in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This conclave of Cambodia casinos is in a perfect destination, a three to four hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 most popular betting centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a thriving business with Thai workers and travelers from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The amazing capital accrued from the gambling dens ranges from 7.5 million dollars to more than twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a number of limitations constraints for gambling den ownership. Ownership is assumed to be mainly Thai; still, funding sources are vague. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains 300 slots and seventy table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slots and 96 table games, including 87 baccarat (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five one armed bandits and 66 of the familiar gaming tables, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the eight gambling halls in Poipet, again in a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six one armed bandits and 97 games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in a multinational vacation and hotel building that contains a number of amenities aside from the gambling hall, which has 10,000 sq.ft. of 130 slot machine games and eighty eight gaming tables.
