Like just about any business place, casinos have workers who will monitor and administer day-to-day goings. Various tasks required of gaming managers, supervisors, and surveillance officers and investigators do not demand communication with casino games and players but in the scope of their job, they should be capable of administering both.

Gaming managers are have responsibility for the entire management of a casino’s table games. They plan, develop, direct, control, and coordinate gaming operations within the casino; form gaming regulations; and choose, train, and organize activities of gaming personnel. Because their jobs are constantly changing, gaming managers must be well versed about the games, deal effectively with workers and patrons, and be able to deduce financial matters impacting casino advancement or decline. These assessment abilities include calibrating the P…L of table games and slot machines, having a good understanding situations that are pushing economic growth in the United States etc..

Salaries may vary by establishment and area. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) data show that full time gaming managers got a median annual amount of $46,820 in 1999. The lowest 10 percent earned less than $26,630, and the highest 10 per cent earned just over $96,610.

Gaming supervisors take charge of gaming operations and workers in an assigned area. Circulating among the tables, they ensure that all stations and games are taken care of for each shift. It also is common for supervisors to interpret the casino’s operating laws for patrons. Supervisors will also plan and organize activities for guests staying in their casino hotels.

Gaming supervisors must have leadership qualities and above average communication skills. They need these techniques both to supervise staff effectively and to greet patrons in order to encourage return visits. Many casino supervisory staff have an associate or bachelor’s degree. Despite their educational background, however, most supervisors gain expertise in other gambling jobs before moving into supervisory desks because an understanding of games and casino operations is important for these employees.
