There is a captivating story to the Cambodia gambling dens that lie just across the dividing line from nearby Thailand, in which gambling den wagering is banned. Eight gambling dens are based in a generally tiny area in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia casinos is in an excellent spot, a three to four hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the two largest gambling locations in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a thriving business with Thai blue-collar workers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The phenomenal capital gained from the casinos ranges from seven and a half million dollars to over twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a couple of restrictions constraints for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is required to be mostly Thai; however, investment sources are vague. The borders are ceremoniously open from 0900 to 1700, and despite the fact visas are allegedly needed to cross, there are ways around this, as is correct of many borders.
The initial Cambodia gambling halls premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving only one casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored boat casino, contains 150 slot machines and 60 tables. The Naga gambling hall never closes with forty two tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, 4 tables of vingt-et-un, 10 of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The 1st gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in 1999 and the Golden Crown quickly opened. A total of 150 one armed bandits and 5 table games at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machines and sixty eight tables at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains 300 slot machine games and seventy table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machine games and 96 table games, including 87 punto banco (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slot machine games and 66 of the common tables, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the 8 casinos in Poipet, also a part of a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six one armed bandits and 97 table games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of a multinational vacation and hotel complex that highlights a number of luxuries accompanying the casino, which has 10,000 square feet of 130 slot machine games and eighty eight table games.
